SERGIU MALAGAMBA
Malagamba restaurant was named after Sergiu Malagamba, a really hip jazz musician, composer and all round innovative fashion and trend setter. From the 40's to the late 60's Malagamba brought new music, dance and fashions to Romania and created a whole new youth culture with his followers being called Malagambists. The term "Malagambism" was coined to describe those that were different, or on the edge of the law. He used to perform in The Rhapsody Theatre among other venues in the vicinity of the restaurant. Feared by various oppressive regimes he was imprisoned on a number of occasions for no reason other than being too individualistic and thus acquired an "outlaw" status. His views on the oppressive regimes became known and his following grew. Through his music and colourful lifestyle he brought light into what were often dark times in Romania.

HE WAS THE MAN!
